Our Souls and Life on Earth

As a former fact-based logical conclusion “Mr Spock” type, I used to need explanations. Now it is my lack of understanding that gives me comfort and allows the possibility of the eternal soul.

If you believe in a higher power, I think it is easy to move to the concept of an eternal soul. The concept of heaven is in most religions in one form or another, where we go after we leave our physical bodies.

However, maybe religion is not for you. Maybe the old school ideas of god the father, higher power, heaven and hell, and punishment and reward just piss you off. To me, these ideas are outdated and patriarchal, they feel condescending and not heart based.

Maybe you think we live on a pale blue dot, and this is all one big coincidence.

But maybe you think you don't know everything? Has science explained everything for you?

If not, maybe the things you don't know can be explained by a universal power? Or would you consider a benevolent energy tying everything together?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have confirmation or validation that there was a benevolent energy? The problem is, the mission we signed up for in this life on earth is not that easy. We signed up for the difficult task of coming here and not knowing, not knowing for sure.

I received this information recently: Our souls are “on assignment” in this life. Like a rocket our soul travels to the next destination, between the stars. With the grace of birds, these are the sojourns referred to by Edgar Cayce. While experiences occur that could seem to take decades, they are a flash in time. The experience on earth is one of those experiences. Earth is a playground for the soul (and oversoul) to experience and gather information. While attempting to cross timelines the soul is a child without remembering its origin (Christian Sundberg describes the “veil of forgetfulness” that we have when we enter this life, not being able remember our eternal nature).

As an eternal soul we don’t have to worry about lack of anything. Everything is temporary, this life is a blip in infinity. Our programming teaches us that we live on this earth under the fear of lack of resources, death, of finite time. Not enough time to do, to accumulate things, to get ahead. If we can address the fear of death by accepting the eternal soul concept, we release ourselves from the programming, the machine, the wheel we are on.

I am not convinced of this concept 100% of the time. But when I question it, I always come back to: even if it isn’t true, isn’t it the best way to live? A life free of worry and stress, in a life full of love. So I strive for this, and sometimes achieve it. 😊
