How Can We View World Conflicts?
It is difficult to witness a conflict such as between Ukraine and Russia. The media is providing full coverage, we see it everywhere. As you are aware, there are conflicts that we don’t see, that we are not allowed to see - people are being oppressed all over the world.
As human beings we can imagine what the people of Ukraine are going through even though we have not experienced an attack directly. The emotions we feel are normal, are all part of our human experience on this earth. As I was talking with a friend of mine about the attack, I told him that what came to mind was someone wanting to take my house. This made me feel angry, and my anger was towards Russia.
We naturally want to blame someone. But is it Russia, or Vladimir Putin that deserves our anger? Is it the Russian people, or the Russian troops?
Can you imagine if everyone was angry to the point of war? Our energy would be so low that mass destruction might result.
If we hold ourselves in a state of anger or outrage, upset with others for starting a conflict and with politicians for allowing it to happen, we ratchet up the rhetoric and feed the fire.
We cannot control this conflict. However, we can change our perspective. We can see our brothers and sisters in Ukraine as beings who bravely entered this life for us to learn a lesson on peace. In the same way, we can think of the soldiers and generals on the Russian side, even Putin, who all play their roles.
Can we see our commonality?
The human beings of both countries are doing the best they can in their circumstances, just like us. They have families who love them, friends they laugh with, and favorite foods and movies, just like us. Instead of being angry and blaming someone, or some group, we can hold space and send love. Do we want peace in the end? By not buying into the rhetoric and negativity we can raise the world’s vibration.
